A Big Ask
Two members of our support group are desperately seeking a kidney. They both have type O blood. If you or someone you know has ever considered the altruistic donation of a kidney, these two patients would be so appreciative of the donation. If you have ever thought of being a live donor, consider that if you are a healthy individual, you only need 1 kidney to continue living normal lives while your donated spare can save a life. Amy’s House has hosted several living donor/recipients and even some living donor/recipient events. The most common organ transplanted is the kidney. In fact 82% of the people waiting for an organ, need a kidney. Liver is the second most common type of transplant.
Even if being a live donor is not possible or appealing for you, please circulate the news about the members who need a kidney. Somebody out there may wish to make that decision to help.
